Today, as a representative of the Colgate Group, Joy Klemencic, Representative Director of Hill’s-Colgate (Japan) Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Hill’s Japan”), visited the Headquarters of the Japanese Red Cross Society (in Minato City, Tokyo) and presented a donation of 250,000 dollars (about 21 million yen) to Mr. Ryoichi Hattori, Director General of the Organizational Development Department of the Administration Sector, for the support of victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake (see the photo).

 

We received a lot of information about victims’ pets continuously during about one month after the earthquake. Hill’s Japan has sent ten tons of Science Diet, our pet food product, as relief supplies to afflicted areas through the Japan Pet Food Association. Hill’s Japan donated the money for the support of victims through the Japanese Red Cross Society thinking that pet owners and other victims’ earliest restoration of safe living conditions is important for the symbiotic relationship between people and pets.

 

The Colgate Group has now been collecting donations from its employees all over the world. This activity is scheduled to continue until the end of April. The Colgate Group is planning to offer a matching donation whereby the group companies will donate the same amount of money as the total amount of donations collected from their employees. In addition, we have decided to send living and health products of Colgate-Palmolive Company, our parent company, as relief supplies to victims. To provide our relief supplies most effectively to victims, we are planning to consult with the local governments of the afflicted areas that are likely to receive them.

 

We would like to express our heartfelt sympathy to the victims, and we truly wish for the earliest recovery and return to living conditions where pet owners in the afflicted areas can live safely with their cats and dogs.
